What Our Clients Are Saying

[Hong] responded quickly, took the time to understand exactly what I was looking for, and met with me over Zoom to create a plan that covered not only my business needs but also ongoing legal support. Working with Hong was so much easier than going through a large corporate law firm, where it's often difficult to reach your own attorney. She was responsive, knowledgeable, and made the entire process simple and stress-free.

Contacted this Estate Planning Lawyer for a consultation. I'm a 80 year old woman who was very impressed with her slowly taking the time to explain all my options that would suit my particular needs and situations. She very simply explained the process and answered all of my questions. She also didn't bombard me with a lot of legal terms that I might not remember or understand. Thankful and appreciative for her consultation. I have decided the pathway best for me.

As a recent college grad just starting with organizing and prepping my assets, I knew nothing about wills and trusts. Despite this, Hong did a great job explaining the process, answering my questions, and helping me feel confident with choices responsible with my future! I'd definitely recommend Ngoc Legal to other newly full-time grads who don't know where or how to start!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a will and a revocable living trust in Texas?

A will states who receives your property and who will manage your estate, and it generally goes through probate court after your death. A revocable living trust holds your assets during your lifetime and lets a successor trustee manage and distribute trust assets without probate. Texas probate is more streamlined than in many states, so the right choice depends on your property, your family, and how much privacy and continuity you want. We walk through both options in a consultation.

What documents are included in an estate plan?

Most estate plans include a will or revocable living trust, a statutory durable power of attorney for finances, a medical power of attorney, a directive to physicians (living will), and a HIPAA authorization. Depending on your situation, a plan may also include a designation of guardian for minor children and deeds or assignments that transfer property into a trust.

When should I create or update my estate plan?

Good times to plan or review are when you get married or divorced, have or adopt a child, buy a home, start or sell a business, receive an inheritance, or move to Texas from another state. Even without a major change, reviewing your plan every few years keeps it current.

Can you help me form an LLC or other business in Texas?

Yes. We help business owners choose the right entity, prepare and file the certificate of formation with the Texas Secretary of State, draft the company agreement, and put core contracts in place so the business starts on a strong legal foundation.

What is fractional general counsel?

Fractional general counsel is ongoing legal support for a business on a recurring basis — reviewing and drafting contracts, answering legal questions, and helping with policies and planning — without the cost of hiring a full-time in-house attorney. It is a good fit for startups and growing small businesses.

Do I need to come to an office to work with Ngoc Legal?

No. Most consultations and meetings take place virtually by video, so you can work with us from home or your office. When documents need to be signed in front of witnesses or a notary, we coordinate the signing with you.

What areas do you serve?

Ngoc Legal serves clients throughout Houston and Greater Houston, including Spring Branch, Memorial, the Heights, Montrose, Katy, Sugar Land, Cypress, and Jersey Village, on matters governed by Texas law.

Do you offer legal services in Vietnamese?

Yes. Attorney Hong Ngoc Nguyen speaks Vietnamese, and consultations are available in English or Vietnamese.
